Od fotografii do kolażu – jak powstają moje plakaty miejskie

From photography to collage – how my city posters are created

Contemporary art has many facets, but one that's particularly close to my heart is collage . It's a technique that allows me to connect reality with imagination, architecture with emotion, and photography with new visual narratives. This is how my urban posters are created—unique compositions that begin with a simple walk around the city.

Step 1. Photography – first sketch of the collage

Each collage begins with a photograph. My camera is almost always with me – whether in the center of Poznań or in the small streets of suburban communities. I search for rhythm, contrasts, light, and shadow in architecture.

I often photograph buildings we pass by every day without much notice – skyscrapers, tenement houses, housing estates, fragments of infrastructure. It's only in a collage that these elements take on new meaning, becoming part of a larger story.

Step 2. Composition – building a new reality

The collected photographs become raw material for my work. This is where the art of collage begins. I digitally cut out, arrange, and juxtapose fragments of photos, searching for dialogue between them.

It's not just about aesthetics—collage allows me to juxtapose different worlds and perspectives. I can combine old architecture with modern buildings, or a section of a bridge with the details of a tenement house. This creates a new form of city , full of tension, contrast, and harmony.

Step 3. Color and space – the emotional dimension of the poster

Once the collage's structure is complete, I begin working on the color scheme. It's these colors that set the mood for the piece—sometimes minimalist and calm, other times intense and dynamic.

I often use backgrounds that add dimension to the collage—like a night sky full of stars or geometric abstractions. This gives the poster depth and transforms ordinary photographs into full-fledged works of contemporary art.

Step 4. Printing – from digital collage to wall poster

I turn the finished collage into a poster. A large-format print (e.g., 50x70 cm) allows for the full reproduction of detail and contrast. I use high-quality paper and pigment-based printing techniques, ensuring the posters are durable and look like paintings.

This is a significant moment – the collage, created from photographs of city walks, takes on a life of its own. It becomes an interior decoration, a focal point in a living room, office, or café.

Why city posters from Poznań?

Poznań is a special place for me – it's where most of my work is created. This city, rich in history and diverse in architecture, inspires me to create collages that connect the past with the present.

My posters from Poznań are not just decoration – they are also a way to look at famous places from a different perspective and discover the poetry hidden within them.

Summary

The process of creating a collage is a journey from everyday observation of the city to a work of contemporary art. Photography, composition, color, and printing—every step matters and influences the final result.

That's why my posters aren't just wall decorations. They're stories captured in architecture, emotions captured in color, and a way to give everyday life an artistic touch.
